Solar panels generate electricity when the sun shines. You will use some of this power in your home, but any extra power you don’t use will be sent to the grid. If you install a battery, this spare power can be stored in the battery and be used when the sunsets. With our optional power cut protection, you can also use your solar panels and battery to power your key devices during a power cut.

Home batteries can store electricity generated during the day for use at night, or during a power outage. This increases your self-consumption of solar power production, and reduces your electricity bills.

Home storage batteries measure the amount of power which you are sending back to the electricity grid, and divert it to the batteries for use later.Typically the battery will be charged during the day, and then once the sunlight levels drop it will discharge to provide power for your home.
You will stay connected to the electricity grid, so if there is not enough power from your solar panels or your home battery then you will buy power from the grid. This way you maximise your self-consumption of electricity, but can be sure that you will always have the power you need.
A home battery will help you use as much of the solar electricity your panels generate as possible. This will both reduce your electricity bills and reduce your impact on the environment.
A home storage battery can be installed at the same time as your solar panels, or at a later date.You will need a location for the battery which can usually be either floor or wall-mounted, near to your fuse board. We will connect cables between the battery and your solar inverter, and also connect it to your home internet. You could install it later and every system that Svea Solar sells is compatible with a storage solution.
