Project Alaminos
Svea Solar is planning a solar park just South of the Community of Alaminos. The solar park will occupy an area of approximately 50 hectares, including battery storage. Alaminos Project is expected to produce approximately 85 GWh annually, which could cover the energy needs of about 23,000 inhabitants.
Svea Solar is a leader in solar energy in Sweden and has built most of the existing solar parks. That includes building the largest solar park in the country - three times. Besides Cyprus, Svea Solar is also present in other European markets such as Germany, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, and Belgium. Svea Solar manages both planning, construction, and operation, as well as financing and long-term ownership.
In Cyprus, Svea Solar already has an operational park: Anageia 3MW solar park, 15 km South-West of Nicosia. This is the first solar plant to be constructed and operated by Svea Solar, first of many to come as Svea Solar has a pipeline of 120 MW under development in the Cypriot island alone.
The permit process for Project Alaminos is ongoing and the Construction licenses have already been issued by the Cyprus Energy Regulatory Authority (CERA). The applications for the issuing of the Town Planning Permit as well as the Preliminary Grid Connection Terms were submitted to the Town Planning and Housing Department of the Ministry of the Interior and the Electricity Authority of Cyprus (EAC), respectively, in October 2023.
The consultation addresses the Community's administrative board in Alaminos, the Larnaka Regional Authority, the Environmental Department, other competent authorities and organizations and NGOs, as well as the individuals concerned and the general public who could be affected by the planned activities. Previous Projects
